Parallels Desktop For Mac Review

By default, VMware Fusion virtual machines include a virtual serial port and virtual parallel port to be consistent with all other VMware virtual machines. In some cases, users want to reuse the COM1, COM2, or LPT1 ports for use with USB to Serial/Parallel adapters in the virtual machine with those ports. To disable VMware Fusion's virtual serial and parallel ports, do the following:
Parallel Desktop 12 Activation Key
Shut down the virtual machine
In the Finder, right click on the virtual machine and select Show Package Contents
Open the .VMX settings file in your favorite text editor
Add the following line to the end of the .VMX settings file - bios.forceSetupOnce = 'TRUE'
Start the virtual machine and BIOS automatically opens
Use the right arrow key to select Advanced
Use the down arrow key to select I/O Device Configuration
For Serial port A, use the + key to change the setting from Auto to Disabled
Repeat the steps above for Serial port B and Parallel port to disable them as well
Hit ESC to exit
Use the right arrow key to select Exit
Exit Saving Changes is selected by default, so hit ENTER to save your changes
Hit ENTER to accept the confirmation dialog and virtual machine will boot
When Windows (or other OS boots), check the Device Manager to confirm that the serial ports and parallels ports no longer exist in the virtual machine
