How can I use the 'middle button' function on Magic Mouse to rotate 3D objects? I am running Solidworks on Parallels.

SolidSmack has your back and we want to show you how easy it it is to get SolidWorks runnin’ on your Mac. To show this, I turn to a friend that use SolidWorks with a Mac on a consistent basis. Ben Eadie, from SolidMentor, shares this step-by-step and has a few tips.

I spend a lot of time trying to make it work, and I found a simple option that helped me a lot!

  1. Using Parallels means you don’t have to restart your Mac when you want to use SolidWorks – you can just switch to macOS as you do when you want to use any other application whereas with Boot Camp you have to shutdown your Mac and restart it in Windows.
  2. Parallels Desktop for Mac Business Edition Parallels Desktop for Mac Home Edition Parallels Desktop for Mac Pro Edition Parallels Desktop Lite Make sure SolidWorks is not running. Download the registry patch file applicable for your version of SolidWorks (see attachment below) to your Windows.

The second option on Preferences > Shortcuts > Mouse Shortcuts > 'Click with middle button' (or something similar, mine is in portuguese)

Now I can just hold COMMAND and use the left click to rotate.

couldn't see the preferences wagner was referring to (Solidworks?mouse?where?).. however; set up the right click gesture to toggle 'rotate'. works well once used to it.Now all we need is for someone to write a driver that allows the magic mouse swipe to rotate a view...
